Andrew Lapping ATII

Managing Partner, Hamilton Capital Partners

Founding partner, Andrew, has extensive experience in property development and the construction and operation of hotels. Combined with his many years’ in corporate finance and taxation, he has been responsible for initiating and structuring many of the commercial property and private equity transactions which Hamilton Portfolio has invested in over the past 15 years. Prior to establishing Hamilton Portfolio in 1999, Andrew spent 12 years with PricewaterhouseCoopers in corporate finance and tax. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation and is a non-executive director of several private companies. He is a non-executive board member of two AIM listed plcs, Netplay plc and SRT plc

Jonathan Gold

Managing Director, Rivers Capital Partners

Jonathan is founder and MD of Rivers Capital Partners. He has raised some £50m of public and private capital and established 3 FCA authorised investment firms. Jonathan has 30 years’ technology transfer, investment and fund creation experience and he was also the founder of NorthStar Ventures as its first CEO in 2005. He has a background in business development in the UK and overseas. Jonathan has a BSc in Chemistry from Manchester University, is a full professional member of the IoD, Chartered Institute of Marketing (MCIM, DipM) and is an FRSA.

Simon Johnson

Head of Debt Finance, Rivers Capital Partners

Simon has worked on several of the regional growth funds for the last 14 years as a Fund Manager for NEL Fund Managers Limited, achieving the full investment of 5 funds totalling £68m into over 200 North East companies. Previous to that, he spent 13 years at Corporate Finance Barclays. Simon is a Maths graduate, Chartered Banker, IOD Company Director and FCA Approved Person. His most recent fund performance was managing a team of 4 investing into 83 companies involving 102 transactions with a current return of 17 investments posting in excess of 21% IRR.

Dr Chris Cathey

Investment Director, Rivers Capital Partners

Chris is a former trader in London, New York and Frankfurt. He was employed by Goldman Sachs as an equity trader between 1993 and 2006. Between 2006 and 2008, he managed a long/short equity portfolio at Merrill Lynch SIG. Chris has worked for The Institute of Trading and Portfolio Management as a trading mentor in addition to being a director and partner of Rivers Capital Partners. Chris is FCA Approved and holds a 1st class degree in Natural Sciences and a PhD in Chemistry from Cambridge University.

Dr John White

Chairman, Rivers Capital Partners

John was a founder of the venture capital company E-synergy in 2000 and co-founder of Rivers Capital Partners with Jonathan Gold in 2009. E-synergy grew to managing £100m of funds and was bought by Jon Moulton a number of years ago. Dr White, by training an electronic engineer and later research manager, led the buyout of Thorn EMI Central Labs. He grew CRL by successfully spinning out and growing technology businesses until he floated the buyout vehicle Scipher on the London main market at a capitalisation of $450m in February 2000. John’s special interest is in exploiting commercial value in intellectual property. His qualifications include BSc 1st class Hons, PhD microelectronics, MBA, and a further honorary Doctorate DSc for his efforts in supporting London based spin-out companies.

Sarah-Jane Moffat FCCA

Financial Controller, Hamilton Capital Partners

Sarah-Jane joined Hamilton Partners in 2009 from Campbell Dallas LLP. She is Financial Controller and is responsible for the accounting and associated overall financial elements for all the Hamilton Group and syndicate companies. Sarah-Jane has gained considerable experience working in practice and is FCCA qualified.
